3 Wheel Double Buggy

Seats

Most 3 wheel double buggies are initially single pushchairs, but some models can be converted to accommodate a second seat or carrycot by converting adapters (these are typically more common in tandem buggies). Certain models let you add an extra board for older children who are ready to walk, but need some help.

For a lightweight option that's great for city streets, check out the Joie Evalite Duo. It's easy to move and comes with a large basket with lots of storage. It can hold twins from birth and will accept two car seats or a carrycot and seat. The seats have to face forward and there is no space to store a shopping bag under the seat. You will need an additional side bag.

If you like to go off-road and off-road, the Mountain Buggy Duet is a good choice. It's a side-byside model with the smallest footprint of any double buggy available on the market. This makes it easier to fit through narrow doors and on public transport, and enables you to climb up and down kerbs without too much trouble. It is a true all-terrain vehicle, with a soft suspension to make easy work of bumpy surfaces. It offers 30 different seating configurations as well as a built-in table for older children who prefer to walk and a 'cinema mode that raises the back seat for better visibility.

Alternatively, the phil&teds dot is a great single buggy that is available from day one that can then easily adapt to take 2 (or 3!) in various configurations. This is especially useful if you have an infant in a car seat, since the frame can be fitted with a wedgie to allow for optimal position, and also car seat adapters for various brands.

Suspension

The quality of the suspension on a triple buggy is essential to how easy it will be for you and your baby/s to push. It is essential to have a smooth ride, as babies can feel every bump that comes along the road. This is particularly true if you are driving on rough terrain, such as grass or roads that are not paved. Certain models come with locking front tires that assist in maneuvering and getting over obstacles like curbs.

Some models come with air-filled tyres which will provide a fantastic all-terrain experience, but they can be prone to punctures therefore, make sure you have a spare set in the trunk. Certain models come with gel-filled or foam-filled tyres that are designed to cushion bumps. They can be less likely to puncture, however they could be uncomfortable for your child should you decide to jog.

Some models like the Roma Atlas offer a generously-sized basket, as well as two zip pockets in the hood to keep your keys and phone easily accessible. It's also designed for dealing with slightly rough terrain so it's a great choice for family walks and all-terrain strolls.

Other models, like the UPPAbaby Vista 2, offer plenty of space and ability to transport twins or a toddler and a child. (This is possible thanks to their 'PiggyBack' board). For something a little different, the Joie Evalite Duo is a lightweight buggy that can seat twins from birth (it's facing the world and can be used in an upright position). The frame's clever design expands widthways to accommodate the additional seat but it still only weighs around 11kg so it's easy to lift and maneuver. It can be used with an infant car seat, a carrycot or both. This allows you to enjoy the best of both worlds.
