Albums

Toto's discography comprises 13 studio albums and 4 live albums. There are also compilations. In addition to the release of original music, Toto has also done collaborations with other artists and on soundtracks for films. Toto has won numerous Grammy Awards.

Before Toto was formed the members of the group performed session work for other musicians. Drummer Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate and keyboardist David Paich (the son of session percussionist Marty Paich and brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro) played on Boz Scaggs 1975 album Silk Degrees. Toto was formed in 1976 as a result of the collaboration.

The third album of Toto, Turn Back, marked a departure from the more progressive sound of their previous albums, and was criticised for the absence of hit singles. In 1985, the group's lead singer Fergie Fredericksen left, and the band held auditions to choose a new frontman. The band selected guitarist Steve Lukather, and recorded Fahrenheit in the year 1986.

In 1998, Toto celebrated its 20th anniversary by re-discovering old tapes and demos to release a special album called Toto XX. The album was well received by fans, and the band embarked on a tour with former members Bobby Kimball, Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.

Shem von Schröck took over Leland Sklar as drummer during the tour for the 40 Trips Around the Sun album. In 2017, Toto released a double-CD live set called Falling in Between, which included recordings from the tour as well as an interview with the band.

He was replaced by bassist Leland Sklar.
