The drawers are easy to open and shut, but I found the textured plastic coatings a bit hard on my fingers.

The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator comes with all the features you'd expect from a refrigerator within this price range. It has Wi-Fi, app support and GE's SmartHQ Software. The app, which is available for iOS and Android devices, lets you control your fridge from anywhere in world, and has numerous options for customization. It will also send notifications when the door is unlocked as well as when the freezer or fridge must be defrosted and when the filter requires a change.

It would be great if GE PYE22PYNFS offered Precise fill the option that is that is available in a few GE refrigerators that allow users to choose how many cups they want to pour out. It does have a countdown on the fridge's display to display how much water have left, but it's not as useful as Precise Fill.

It has a sleek, fingerprint-resistant stainless-steel finish and features thick handles that make them comfortable to grip. Inside, the fridge features the standard french door fridge freezer no plumbing-door layout, with gallon-sized bins for the doors on each door, two rows of shelves that capture spills and a set of more spacious drawers. The top shelf on the right can be folded down to give tall items more space. There's also a full-width storage drawer for food items and an internal water dispenser.

One of the nice features of this refrigerator is that the Ice maker is located in the freezer, making it easy to move the ice to the refrigerator for use when needed. The freezer has thoughtful design elements, too, like sliding drawers to help you better organize the position of your items. It has a large bin for storing frozen food, and a separate one for ice.

Another cool feature of this refrigerator is its Smart InstaView panel. You can control the temperature, lighting, and other aspects of your refrigerator from your smartphone. It's a simple method to monitor your refrigerator and manage it, especially when you're away from home.

Although the Smart InstaView is a neat feature, it doesn't enhance the overall performance of the refrigerator. In fact it took longer to defrost and chill food in this fridge than some of the others we test. This is likely due to the greater capacity.

The doors are another problem with this fridge. The handles with a sunken design let shorter people open them from the bottom. However taller people have a hard time closing them without slamming them. It would have been much better if they had a front-mounted handles.

The LG Counter-Depth MAX fridge is an excellent choice for those looking to combine the look and feel of a French-door refrigerator with a more efficient design. Its capacity is superior for a counter-depth model, and it cools evenly and has a good layout. It's also a bit cheaper than the top counter depth refrigerators that have an icemaker, which makes it an attractive choice.

Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

If you're looking for an French door refrigerator that won't cost a fortune and isn't expensive, this Frigidaire is a good choice. It's a basic fridge that might not be as eye-catching as some of its competitors, but it still has enough features to make a good choice. Its most important characteristic is the adjustable temperature drawer which helps keep food items like meat and vegetables fresher for longer. It also comes with a huge ice maker as well as a water dispenser.

Another great feature is the "Chill Drawer" that sits above the two crisper bins. The temperatures in the middle, top and bottom of the fridge didn't differ significantly from 38 degrees. This is a good performance, but does not quite make it to the top of our ratings.
