WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by +3. A random additional substat is also added to every upgrade.

Upgraded gear generally sees greater value for trade regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or has a high stat variation (like the eth titan weapons). Upgrades are not as useful for those with higher variance due to the requirement to roll a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The Item Level Upgrade (Delphi.Larsbo.Org) upgrader allows players to upgrade gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create the enchantments.

The upgrader is located in all major cities, and can be visited at any time to upgrade your gear. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader at least once every few weeks to ensure that your equipment is up to date.

Upgrades will cost more depending on the level of the item, but they will always be less expensive than purchasing new gear. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest up to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item, it will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade weapon, armor, tool and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners for various currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be applied to any weapon, tool or armor. button, which will show a preview of the item when it is upgraded when the player has enough materials.

The cost of upgrades varies based on the item slot and current item upgrade level and the weapon's price is higher than bracers or gloves, for example. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with some upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of Flightstones or crests used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain level it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.

Many locations offer item upgraders, including the main Island and a few outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount and the chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases depending on the amount of items being upgraded. It can also be boosted by having players complete specific achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at the beginning, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. The NPCs who are able to facilitate upgrades are only accessible through a variety means. This is both a benefit as well as a disadvantage.

In Season 3 the upgrade system was modified a bit, and several new features added. Once a player has upgraded to a specific level for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same level will cost less. This is true regardless of whether the items come from an entirely different set of gear.

The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is account-wide. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is reduced also, but is only available once certain milestones are achieved.

Crests

Players have several choices when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an item that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specialized, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an integral component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that Crests are only available to gear with a certain rank. Each rank has an upgrade item path that is different. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the most complex may require as many as 20 crests based on the type of gear that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by working through content that is of the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, dungeons or raids of all difficulty for items of higher tier, or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses for endgame gear. The crests can later be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken, for the appropriate upgrade pathways and steps.

Utilizing these new currencies isn't too difficult however, the system does introduce some modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, once an item reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest possible level for all their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.

Another important change is that crests have one use and it's crucial to use them properly. It's best to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the best gear you can find, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly true for items such as rings and trinkets that occupy several slots. The account-wide discount will only be applicable if all the slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
