World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Upgrades to items are a method to boost the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade it could boost an item's Mark Level or Rarity, as well as boost other stats.
Upgrades to gear in The War Within requires a certain number of Flightstones and Crests and each item comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the price of the next item by a specific amount.
Item Level
The value of an item's basic stats increases when it is upgraded. This value is the sum of an item's upgraded perks (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrading items can be expensive depending on the upgrader you choose and the kind of upgrade you decide to do. This is due to how many perks must be replaced to allow the item to be upgraded.
It can also be used as a gating requirement when waiting for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It is also used to limit the amount of PvP gear players can wear since PvP is not available at lower levels. Players can see their average item level in their character sheet.
When deciding whether to purchase or sell equipment, players can compare the levels of the item. It's a measure of the damage and quality. Comparing items in a vendor's stock is possible using the level of the item.
The level of the item can be seen by pressing the ALT key on your PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will show the item's full description, including ilvl. You can also find it by hovering over an item and typing in /itemlevel chat.
There are many theories about how the item level is determined. One theory is that the item level is a numerical value derived from a formula which calculates the value of an item's stats are worth. It is based on the fact that different perks are valued differently, and that gems found in sockets increase the value of the
item upgrader
. This could result in a calculated item's ilvl that is typically very close to Blizzard's real level of the item.
However, this isn't the only factor that affects an
item upgrader mod
's ilvl, because the level of the region the item is dropped into can alter the value of its stats, for instance by adding an additional level to its haste or crit rating. This means that items dropped at higher levels will have more ilvl than those from lower-level instances.
Item Stats
The item's stats can be the difference between a good or bad item for players. The game uses them in various ways to encourage players not to limit themselves to a single weapon and to motivate players to explore other weapons. The base stats of a weapon are increased by the weapon's stat modification that are in turn boosted by the player's level.
The upgrades to items add by boosting certain stats on the item. The rarity of an item determines its upgrade cost. An item that is white or grey, for example, will only be upgraded one time and items with rare tiers can be upgraded several times at more expensive costs.
Affixes can also be used to change an item's stats. They are stat boosts that can be added by the player to an item. The affixes are used to give items additional damage or special abilities (such as the ability to revive dead or reduce cooling downs), or to make them unique by adding a name.
All affixes can be being re-rolled right now by selecting them in the upgrade window, and pressing the green button. This process will cost the player a certain amount of gold and items, which can be added to the upgrade gauge in the same manner as other rerolling options.
Players can upgrade an item with a specific stat, or reroll the affixes. The range of stats is determined by the item's level. However each item will contain at least one stat in that range unless they are an exclusive
item level upgrade
or the item is a God Roll from a boss in a raid.
Another thing that could change is the possibility of upgrading equipment without having to reroll the attaches, or select which stats to boost. As with base equipment, it will have to be done per item and the interface for item comparison wouldn't display all possible stats at once.
Item Luck
The Luck stat of a player can increase the chance of finding items as well as the properties generated by loot, and the intensity of these properties. However, it does not directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives players an opportunity to get better equipment earlier in the game. This is particularly useful in the early game, because players tend to put weapon scaling and defenses above raw damage gains.
Luck can also boost the likelihood of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to confuse with the Blacksmith’s overall upgrade chances that increase with each item level. It is also possible to be increased with the use of anti-materials like the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.
Armor, shields and weapons come with an initial Luck value of 40. These items can be augmented with golden ingots or spined leather (depending on the type of material) to add another 40 luck or to boost the luck of the item to 140.
Moreover some items, like the Hollow weapon that is infused with hollow, can be equipped to boost the damage of any damage-dealing skill by 5%. These items can be purchased in the shop or created using the right ingredients.
Item Failure
Item upgrades are costly and not all upgrades will succeed. Cash shop items can be used to boost the chance of success of an upgrade, or to protect players from losing their item in the event that it does not work.
When you upgrade an item, the rate of success is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the probability of completing the upgrade successfully, and can be enhanced by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limits to how much the success rates can be improved and the chance of an upgrade failing can't exceed 100%..
The luck of an item may affect the effectiveness of an upgrade. Each item has a success rate of 25%, and each item that has Luck increases the chance of success by 5percent.
It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the inventory items, so enchantment glint and other effects could be masked by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the
Item Upgrader
CORE client config.
