WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by +3. Each upgrade item also boosts an unspecified substat.

Upgraded gear generally sees more value in trade, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or a very high stat variation (like eth titan weapons). Upgrades are less important for those with higher variance due to the need to roll an exact version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader mod upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any kind of armor or weapons. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enhancements.

You can upgrade your gear anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every few weeks.

The cost of upgrading will be based on the current level of the equipment being upgraded but they will always be less expensive than purchasing new equipment from other sources. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest up to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item, it will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade tools, armor, weapon, and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players from item level Upgrade upgrader NPCs in exchange for various currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be applied to any tool, weapon or armor. The button will show the item's next level of upgrade, when there are enough materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the item slot and the current level of the item as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than gloves or bracers, for instance. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with some upgrades having a discount to reduce the cost of the Flightstones or crests used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain amount it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.

Upgraders for items can be found at many locations on the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon and a possibility of getting the latest recipe. The discount for upgrading increases when more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players complete certain achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at the beginning, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are available only via a variety of ways. This is both a benefit and an issue.

In Season 3, several new features were added to the upgrade system. Once an upgrade has been completed to a certain level of item for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same item level will cost less. This applies regardless of whether the items are from a different set of equipment.

The amount of Valorstones needed for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is available across all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is reduced too, but it is only available when certain milestones are achieved.

Crests

Players have a variety of choices when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an item that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1, and come in four ranks.

The first thing to note is that crests are only able to be spent on equipment that is of a particular rank, and each rank has its own requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and easiest upgrade is 15 crests. The most complex upgrade requires up to 20 crests, depending on the type of gear being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through completing tasks at the appropriate level. This could be done by engaging in outdoor activities or taking on dungeons and raids of any difficulty to earn equipment of lower tier or Mythic+ raid bosses or dungeons with a heroic difficulty for endgame gear. The crests can later be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC like Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to get the appropriate upgrade paths and steps.

Using these new currencies isn't too difficult, but the system will introduce a few changes to the overall upgrade process. When a piece reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it will no longer require Flightstones. This change is intended to allow players to upgrade their equipment to the highest ilvl possible on all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also essential to use crests in a wise manner, as they are only used for one purpose. For instance it's Best item upgrade to make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests on the Best item upgrade equipment available and save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you plan to create. This is particularly applicable to rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character, that will be able to benefit from the discount for all accounts when all slots are filled with high-quality gear.
