Robots that vacuum and mop provide the convenience of removing dry debris (dust dirt, grit) and wet mess (spills, staining) in one time without the need to change devices. They also can save space when compared to two separate units, particularly in smaller living spaces.

1. Eufy S1 Pro

It's one of the easiest robots to set up that we've tested. Unpacking is easy and the quick-start guide will have you up and running in no time. It comes with a full dust bag, water tank and a hard floor.

The S1 Pro is an incredibly powerful machine that can vacuum and mop well. The mops spin at a high rate and employ 2.2 pounds (1kg of force) to swiftly remove dirt, pet hair and sticky dried spills. The vacuum comes with four power modes, a range of brushes and attachments, and a user-friendly app that lets you select the exact kind of cleaning you'd like to have for each room.

2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, the latest version of Roborock's most popular robot vacuum and mop, is the most recent version. This year's model has a double agitator built into its mopping pad. This enhances the carpet cleaning capabilities of this model. The S8 Pro Ultra also has an improved suction capacity, allowing it to pick up small hairs and other debris that other robotic hoovers cleaners may be unable to pick up.

This Roborock model, like the other two I tested, has infrared and reactive 3D obstacle avoidance technology that helps it overcome obstacles like furniture, walls, and other obstacles. However, the S8 Pro Ultra takes things an extra step by incorporating a dual camera that can detect objects and decide whether they are an object that is a wall or a different surface. It is able to change its direction automatically and clean the objects without stumbling.

It's the most expensive of the three models I've reviewed however, it's also the most feature-packed. Its sleek, angular style is striking and has only three physical buttons that include the power button which also resumes cleaning; a mop button that doubles as a child lock; and a home button that can send the robot back to its dock. The hinged lid can be opened to reveal a 350ml dustbin as well as a 200ml of water tank. The water tank self-empties, and the bin is auto-refilling.

The only downside I've discovered with this model is that its VibraRise mop pad mount is not removable. While you can replace the mopping cloth (if needed) however, it's a hassle to remove the mount to wash manually. I've found that any plush carpet that the robot passes will be in contact with the rough Velcro-like fastener system on the mount, and could cause scratches.

The S8 Pro Ultra is equipped with a range of intelligent features including support for Google Home and Amazon Alexa. You can manage and set up these through the Roborock app, which is also the home of its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app lets you schedule cleanings and monitor battery life. You'll have to go through a series of steps to activate voice control on this model. It's a shame, considering the performance otherwise.

3. Dreame X40

The Dreame X40 is an industry-leading robot vacuum and mop equipped with exceptional suction power, advanced mowing capabilities, and ingenuity features. Its clever design permits customized and efficient cleaning while reducing time.

The X40 robot vacuum cleaner is the first to offer 12,000 Pascals cleaning power. It is one of the most powerful alternatives available. This powerful vacuum cleans up the dry mess, which includes pet hair and dust. It also comes with a high-quality mop that leaves hard floors spotlessly clean, even without a wet pad. The X40 is also extremely quiet when in operation and only occasionally bursting during modes changes or self-maintenance.

Another standout feature is the X40's extendable and liftable side brushes, which allows it to get into hard-to-reach corners and intimately clean furniture such as table and chair legs. The robot is also able to reach under low-profile furnishings which makes it an ideal option for smaller apartments or condos. The side brush automatically tilts down when it spots wet spots. This is a nice feature that enables the X40 to prevent damage to floors from repeated back-and-forth movements.

Unlike some other robots that only focus on one thing, the X40 is capable of performing both vacuuming and mopping at the same time or individually. It can be programmed to only mop the hard floors and not skip carpeted areas, or vice versa. It can be controlled by the Dreame App or Alexa, Siri, or Google Home to ensure smooth voice-controlled operations.

The app is intuitive and user-friendly and the X40's intelligent features are a breeze to set up. Users can program the X40 to clean at specific times, adjust suction power and mode, see floor plans and mapping and manage mopping settings. The X40 will also track its progress, and alert you when it is finished.

The X40 is easy-to-maintain and offers many convenient features, making it an ideal choice for busy families. The docking station can automatically empty the dustbin and wash mop pads before refilling them with cleaning solution and fresh water. It also can detect when the mop pad is overflowing and notify you when it overflows, thus reducing the need for manual maintenance.

4. L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a high-end robot that's one of the most expensive available however, it comes with many additional features that set it apart. Its mops have a new feature called Smart DuoScrub. This uses two high-speed mops to clean floors more thoroughly than the standard method, and has the highest suction power of 7,000Pa. This is higher than the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra and Ecovacs Deebots T20 Omni. It can also clean pet hair, small dirt particles and pick up spills and soiled spots.

Its mops are also cleaned and dried inside the base station after each use. This feature is great because it stops mould and unpleasant odours from accumulating in storage. It also makes the mop system more efficient. It's a system that we've yet to see on other robot vacuum and mop models and it could be a great method of keeping your home cleaner for longer.

There are plenty of options, including the ability to schedule cleanings and change preferences. These can be set via the app, or via direct buttons on the device itself. The app is simple to use and offers many options for customizing the cleaning routine, and there are many features that other robots do not include, such as the Clean Genius mode that automatically increases suction power whenever it detects dust particles instead of using an individual setting.

The L20 Ultra has a stylish design with a white-and-metallic finish that looks elegant and sophisticated. It's a bit heavier than the other two-in-1 robots on this list, at 4kg but it's not too heavy, and feels robust and well built. Mopping is well-designed, and the double rotating mop works well on hard floors or in corners. They can even extend up to 2mm baseboards thanks to the MopExtend feature which is a nice touch.
