1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO

The i3+ EVO is identical to its sibling the i3 EVO. They differ only in that the i3+ comes with self-emptying capabilities. This makes the i3+ a great option for those who want an automated, hands-free cleaning experience but don't mind having to empty their dust bin manually when it is full.

Both robots do well picking up surface debris on carpets and hard floors, and they are very good in maneuvering around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates a smart map of your home to assist the i3+ to navigate and clean efficiently. However unlike the i7+ or other top best rated robot vacuum robots we evaluated, the i3+ doesn't have a feature for avoiding obstacles, so it may be stuck on things like socks or power cords, and may have issues in navigating through transitions between surfaces like hardwood to rug.

iRobot suggests cleaning the area around the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or other clutter it may encounter. It is also recommended to keep the dustbin and filters free of dirt to prevent them from getting blocked. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is filled or the battery is depleted, it returns to its docking station, automatically emptying its dirt into the station's external dustbin, and then continues cleaning the area where it started. The i3+ EVO's batteries last for about an hour and a half of continuous use, and it takes around three hours to recharge.

2. iRobot Roomba i7+

The iRobot i7+ is the top model in iRobot's flagship line, and it comes with the latest technology. It has self-charging and self-navigating. However, the most significant feature is the self-emptying bin. This eliminates the need for routine maintenance.

The Roomba i7+ is able to remember up to 10 floor plans and their names thanks to Imprint Smart Mapping, an application that lets it create maps of rooms so that it can clean them more efficiently. It also works with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning jobs, and you can control your robot via the app or voice.

In our tests the i7+ performed faster and more maneuverable than our second-placed model and the eufy RoboVac G30, and it removed large chunks of pet hair from all surfaces kinds, including carpeting. The biggest advantage over the Eufy is the self-emptying bin which eliminates major sources of maintenance and reduces recurring cost.

We were also amazed by the i7+'s integration with best amazon vacuum Alexa and Google Assistant AI services, which we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning routines, move itself around the room, and even vacuum the area. The process of connecting the i7+ to these services was simple and easy with the iRobot Home app. When connected, we were able to use the i7+'s voice commands like "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and evaluating the performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

In a world of vacuums with cords that are like minivans and buses, this tiny Dyson model is an automobile. It's powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in most homes, but also small enough to fit on a coffee table or bookcase.

The V10 is powered by a Lithium-ion battery with 7 cells of energy that can provide power without fading for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filtering system captures allergens, and then lets cleaner air into your home. The specially designed head utilizes stiff nylon bristles that penetrate deep into carpets and collect large particles or fine dust. It has three suction modes to suit the task at hand. It quickly converts from floor vac to handheld vacuum, and then back to floor.

This model also has docks that charge to 100% in 3.5 hours and provides an easy access to two attachments as well as a Wand clip. This is a huge improvement over older Dysons that require a long charge and are difficult to store.

The main drawback of the V10 is its sluggish run time. Its claims on the market that it can last up to 60 minutes of run time are a bit misleading, as CR's testing shows. This is a typical, not an exceptional, time to run a battery-powered cordless vac. This is still enough to clean most of an average-sized house but not long enough to clean every area (though an additional run-through often can be effective). This model has its own advantages, however: it's lighter and more mobile than previous Dysons cordless models, and its vacuuming ability is noticeably superior on carpets with low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694"

The 694 is a basic robotic vacuum that's a great choice for those who don't have lots of money to invest in the latest model of robot. It's capable of sucking up a variety of debris types and sizes during our tests, and it often passes over the same areas several times to get a really thorough clean. Its flat front allows it to reach corners and edges of walls.

Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt technology to stay clear of obstacles and navigate your home. However, it lacks the ability to map that is found in more advanced models, such as our top picks, i3+EVO and j7+ Series. Because of this, it may get stuck on things like phone cords and furniture that isn't as sturdy, and frequently runs out of battery power before making it back to its home base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways over the Roomba 694 because it has less parts that require regular cleaning, is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtering system, has a lower cost of recurring costs and is more sophisticated in its automation capabilities and is better able to move itself. It also has a bigger dustbin, and charges more quickly.

It is also more durable and has a more powerful motor, and performs notably better on both bare floors and carpets with low pile, while offering a wider range of automation options.

The app offers a variety of options for customizing your robotic cleaner. This includes mopping levels, virtual barriers and behavior adjustments docking frequency settings, and much more. It's easy to understand and easy to use, just as is the case with other Samsung devices.

In our tests of the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and handled dog hair (on carpet) quite well, cleaning up 86% of it. However, it wasn't particularly well in avoiding taller objects like cords and socks which was a disappointment. It's also more expensive than the other models we've tested which could be a deal-breaker for certain shoppers.

The smart vacuum comes with an onboard camera that is accessible through the app. You can also create a live stream from the robot's cleaning station. For instance, my living room rug has a darkly-colored border that has a tendency to cause confusion for other robots I've tested.
