Robots that vacuum and clean provide the convenience of cleaning dry debris and wet messes in one time and without the need to switch devices. They also can save space compared to two separate units, particularly in smaller living areas.

A good combination bot will have excellent navigation and obstacle avoidance. Look for models with docks that let them automatically empty their bins, refill their water tanks and machine-wash the mopping pads.

1. Eufy S1 Pro

It has plenty to offer for its relatively affordable price and is one of the easiest robots we've tested to install. Unpacking the S1 Pro is simple, and a quick-start guide will have you up and running with a clean and complete dust bag, a hard floor solution and water tank in no time at all.

The S1 Pro is a powerful small machine that can is able to clean up a storm and is a great vacuum cleaner too. The mops spin at high speed and use 2.2 pounds (1kg of force) to swiftly take away pet hair, dirt and sticky dried spills. The vacuum cleaner has four power settings, a variety of brushes and attachments as well as an intuitive app that lets you choose the kind of cleaning you want for each room.

For instance, you can ask the robot to clean the kitchen and the living room thoroughly but leave the bedroom to itself. The S1 Pro has excellent front collision sensors as well as smart navigation technology. It can detect small obstacles that other models can't. Its only minor issue is that it can smash into walls and other objects at a high speed, but just a glance at the cleaning history in the app tells you exactly what it's doing and where it's headed and what obstacles it's avoided.

The docking station comes with a handy LCD screen that indicates the need for maintenance like emptying the debris and washing the dirty water tank. It can also mix detergent into the tank in a controlled manner with a 600ml of eufy solution.

Both the S1 Pro vacuum and mop come with plenty of running time, with the mop able to operate for an 184-minute runtime in Quiet mode, while the vacuum is able to do 136 minutes in standard mode before having to recharge or return to the base to replenish. The app is simple to use and intuitive, allowing you to look at all the details of the cleaning.

2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra is the most recent version of the company's top robot vacuum and mop. It's not like the model from last year this one has two agitators in its mopping pad, which greatly improves carpet cleaning capabilities. The S8 Pro Ultra has an enhanced suction power that enables it to pull up finer hairs and other debris other robotic hoovers cleaners may miss.

This Roborock model, just like the other two I tested, has infrared and reactive 3D obstacle avoidance technology to help it overcome obstacles like walls, furniture and other obstacles. The S8 Pro Ultra goes one step further and includes a dual-camera that can identify objects, determining whether they're walls or other surfaces. It will then automatically alter its direction and clean them without missing a beat.

It's the most expensive of the three models I've reviewed but it's also the most feature-packed. Its sleek and angular design is striking and only has three physical buttons. The power button, which restarts the cleaning process, a mop button that doubles up as a child-lock and a home button to bring the robot to its dock. The hinged lid can be lifted to reveal the 350ml dust bin as well as a 200ml water tank. The water tank automatically emptys and the bin fills up automatically.

The only downside I've found with this model is that the VibraRise mop pad mount is not removable. It is possible to replace the mopping cloth if required, but it's not easy to remove the mount for washing manually. I've noticed that any carpet that the robot vacuum that vacuums and mops crosses will be in contact with the rough Velcro like fastener system on the mount, which can cause abrasions.

The S8 Pro Ultra is equipped with a variety of smart features that include support for Google Home and Amazon Alexa. The Roborock app allows you to manage and set up these advanced features. It also includes maps and advanced mopping options. The app lets you schedule cleanings and track the battery's life. You'll have to go through a few steps to enable voice control on this model. It's a shame, considering the performance otherwise.

3. Dreame X40

The Dreame X40 is an industry-leading robot vacuums with mop vacuum and mop that has incredible suction power, sophisticated mowing capabilities, and ingenuity features. Its innovative design allows for personalized and efficient cleaning, while also saving time.

In contrast to other robots that are restricted to a single task, the X40 can mop and vacuum at the same time. It can be programmed to only mop the hard floors and skip carpeted areas, or vice versa. It can be controlled by the Dreame App or Alexa, Siri, or Google Home to ensure smooth voice-controlled operation.

The app is intuitive and user-friendly and the X40's clever features are a breeze to install. Users can program the X40 to clean at specific times, adjust suction power and mode, view floor plans and maps and manage mopping settings. The X40 will also track its progress and notify you when it is finished.

The X40 is easy to maintain and comes with numerous convenient features, making it a great choice for busy families. Its docking station automatically empties the dustbin into a huge 3.2 L bin, cleans the mop pads, then refills them with clean water and cleaning solution. It will also tell you whether the mop pad is at its maximum capacity and notify you of the situation prior to it bursting.

4. L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a high-end robot that is among the most expensive available, but it packs in a lot of extra features that make it stand out. The mops come with a brand new feature called Smart DuoScrub that uses two high-speed mops to clean floors more thoroughly than the conventional method, and it comes with the highest suction power of 7,000Pa. This is more than the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra or Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni and can clean pet hair and other small dirt particles and also pick up spills and wet spots.

The mop is also cleaned and dried inside the base station after every use. This is a fantastic feature since it prevents the build-up of mould and unpleasant odours in storage, and also makes the mop system a lot more efficient. This is a feature we haven't yet seen on other robot vacuums and mop models and could be a good way of keeping your home hygienic for longer.

There are many options, including the option to schedule cleaning times and adjust preferences. The app lets you define these preferences, or use the buttons on the device itself. The app is simple to use and provides a number of options for customizing your cleaning routine. It also has several features that aren't offered on other robots, for instance the Clean Genius Mode, which automatically increases suction when it detects any dust particles.

The L20 Ultra is also one of the most fashionable robots we've seen on the market, with metallic and white colors that looks elegant and classy. It's a little heavier than some of the other two-in-one robots on this list - at around 4kg but it's not too heavy, and it feels sturdy and well-built. The mopping design is also excellent, and the double rotating mop is great for hard floors as well as in corners. The MopExtend feature lets them reach up to 2mm below baseboards.
