Robots that vacuum and mop offer the convenience of cleaning both dry debris (dust dirt) and wet mess (spills and stains) in one session without the need to change devices. They can also reduce space when compared to two separate units, especially in smaller living areas.

A good combination bot will have excellent navigation and obstacle avoidance. Look for models that have docks that allow them to automatically empty their bins, refill their water tanks and machine-wash the mopping pads.

1. Eufy S1 Pro

It's one of the simplest robots to set up that we've ever tested. Unpacking the S1 Pro is simple, and a quick-start guide will have you up and running with a clean, complete dust bag, a hard floor solution and water tank in no time.

The S1 Pro is an incredibly powerful machine that can mop and vacuum well. Its mops spin at high speeds and can apply 2.2 pounds (1kg) of force, allowing for quick removal of dirt, pet hair, and dried sticky spills. The vacuum comes with four power modes, a variety of attachments and brushes, and a user-friendly app that lets you select the type of cleaning you'd like to have for each room.

You could, for instance, ask the robot vacuum cleaners best to clean the kitchen and living room thoroughly, but leave the bedroom in its own space. The S1 Pro has excellent front collision sensors and smart navigation technology. It is able to recognize small obstacles that other models are unable to. The only problem is that it is known to smash into walls and objects at a high speed. However looking at the cleaning history on the app will show you exactly what the robot vacuum with mop has completed, where it's going, and which obstacles it has stumbled upon or avoided.

The docking station features an LCD display that shows when maintenance is needed for cleaning up debris and washing the water tank that is dirty. It can also mix detergent into the tank automatically by using a 600ml eufy solution.

Both the S1 Pro vacuum and mop are able to run for a long time and the mop is able to operate for an 184-minute runtime in Quiet mode and the vacuum can last for 136 minutes in normal mode, before having to recharge or return to the base to refill. The app is simple to use and intuitive that lets you view every aspect of the cleaning.

2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, the latest version of Roborock's top-of-the-line best robot hoover mop and vacuum, is the most recent version. Unlike last year's model it comes with a double agitator in its mopping pad which significantly enhances its carpet cleaning capabilities. The S8 Pro Ultra also has an improved suction capacity, allowing it to remove small hairs and other debris that other robotic cleaners may miss.

Like the two other Roborock models I've tried, this one has reactive 3D obstacle avoidance and infrared technology to can help it avoid walls, furniture and other obstacles. However, the S8 Pro Ultra takes things a step further by adding a dual camera which can detect objects and decide whether they're a wall or another type of surface. It is able to change its course automatically and clean them without missing a step.

This is the most expensive of the three models I've reviewed, but it's also feature-packed. Its sleek angular design is eye catching and only has three buttons that are physically accessible. The power button, which also restarts the cleaning process, a mop button that doubles up as a child-lock and a home button to bring the robot to its dock. The hinged lid opens up to reveal a 350ml dustbin as well as a 200ml of water tank. The water tank automatically emptys and the bin auto-refills.

The only issue I have discovered with this model was that the VibraRise mop pad mount isn't movable. While you can replace the mopping cloth (if necessary) but it's a challenge to take off the mount itself to wash it manually. I've observed that any soft carpet that the robot touches will come into contact with the Velcro-like fastener system on the mount, which could cause abrasions.

The S8 Pro Ultra is equipped with a number clever features including support for Google Home and Amazon Alexa. The Roborock app is where you can manage and set up these advanced features. It also contains maps and advanced mopping options. The app also allows you to schedule cleanings and monitor the battery life and maintain your components. However, you'll have to go through a few hurdles to enable voice control on this model which is unfortunate considering how well it performs otherwise.

3. Dreame X40

The Dreame X40 is an industry-leading robot vacuum and mop with incredible suction power, sophisticated mowing capabilities, and a variety of innovative features. Its clever design permits customized and efficient cleaning while reducing time.

The X40 robot vacuum cleaner is the first to feature 12,000 Pascals cleaning power. It is among the most powerful alternatives available. This powerful vacuum cleans up dry mess, including pet hair and crumbs. It comes with a mop of high quality that cleans hard floors without using a pad. In addition the X40 is very quiet during operation, only producing occasional bursts of noise when switching modes or completing self-maintenance tasks.

The X40 also comes with a side brush that is able to be lifted and extended. This allows it to reach into corners that are hard to reach and clean curved furniture like table and chair legs. It also allows the robot to get under low-profile furniture which makes it a great choice for small apartments and condominiums with small spaces. The side brush also automatically swivels downwards when it detects wet spots. This is a nice addition that helps the X40 to avoid causing damage to floors by the frequent back-and-forth movement.

Contrary to other robots, which are limited to a single task, the X40 can vacuum and mop at the same time. It can also be programmed to eliminate areas with carpets and mop only hard floors, or vice versa. It can be controlled through the Dreame app or with Alexa, Siri, and Google Home for smooth voice-controlled operation.

The app is easy to use and understand and the X40 comes with a variety of smart features that are easy to set up. Users can program the X40 for cleaning at specific times. They can also adjust suction power, change modes, look at maps and floor plans, and manage mopping settings. The X40 can also track its progress and inform you when it's finished.

The X40 is easy to maintain and comes with many convenient features, making it a perfect choice for busy families. The docking station will automatically empty the dustbin and wash the mop pads, then refill them with fresh cleaning solution and water. It can also detect the moment when the mop pad has reached its maximum capacity and notify you of the situation before it spills.

4. L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a high-end robot that is among the most expensive on the market however, it comes with numerous extra features that set it apart. Its mops have a new feature called Smart DuoScrub that makes use of two mops with high-speed motors to clean floors more thoroughly than the conventional method, and it comes with a high maximum suction power of 7,000Pa. This is significantly higher than the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra or Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni and can vacuum up pet hair and other small dirt particles - as well as picking up spills and wet spots.

The mop is also dried and cleaned inside the base station after every use. This is beneficial as it keeps mould and unpleasant odours from building up in storage. The L20 Ultra has a stylish design with a white-and-metallic finish that looks sophisticated and classy. It's a little heavier than some of the other two-in-one robots in this list - at 4kg - but it's not obscenely heavy, and is sturdy and well-built. The mopping design is also excellent, and the double rotating mop works well on hard floors as well as in corners. The MopExtend feature allows them to reach even 2mm below the baseboards.
