3 Wheeled Buggies

A 3 wheel travel system-wheel buggy is great for off-road walking & dealing with terrain, from bumpy pavements to woodland tracks. They are also more easy to manoeuvre up and down kerbs than 4-wheel models.

Stability

With four wheels and a central point of gravity that's balanced by the weight of your child in the seat, 4-wheel buggies are generally considered to be more stable than three-wheelers. Three-wheel buggies are still worth considering as they can handle everything from rough terrain to busy streets.

For a buggy that's easy to control and won't let you down on bumpy pavements, look for a model with large rear wheels and a lockable front wheel. They will require periodic pumping, but will be far more durable than solid tyres and more likely to be puncture-proof. Having a single front wheel could be a reason that three-wheelers tend to be bulkier than four-wheeled buggies when folded. Check that the model you pick fits inside your car's boot and can be positioned in a straight line if needed. MFM reviewer Kath found her tri-wheeled buggy to be able to perform well on both urban and countryside walks.
