The digital artwork

After several weeks of posts on social media that hint at it, luxury car manufacturer Lamborghini has finally revealed its first non-fungible token (NFT) project. The Space Key is a collection of five physical items which unlocks a unique digital artwork by an unidentified artist. The collectors' piece was developed in collaboration with NFTPRO(tm) and is limited to only five units. It will be auctioned soon.

Each Space Key contains a block composed of a carbon-fire composite material. It was shipped to the International Space Station as part of a research project for 2019. After returning to Earth, the block was engraved using a QR code that links to the digital element within the Space Key.

Each of the five Space Keys features a different moment that takes place at different times as the Lamborghini Ultimae takes off towards the stars. More than 600 million pixels each of the five images which were taken by photographer Fabian Oefner.

Oefner used an inflatable camera that had an lens to take individual images, which were later put together into the final image. The result is an image that is out of this world. It captures both the beauty of Earth and the futuristic, hyperrealistic image of a car rising from the Earth. The Space Keys will be auctioned off soon, but the exact date and time of the auction hasn't been announced yet.
