The Lamborghini Sian FKP 37 is a Supercapacitor Hybrid

The Sian FKP 37, by Lamborghini's standards is a wild automobile. It's one of the first hybrid cars to utilize supercapacitors.

The Sian is powered by an emotor with a horsepower of 34 hp in the automatic manual gearbox that can reach 80 mph. Then, the V-12 controls the car. This helps to make the car more efficient and allows it to accelerate immediately.

Forged Composites

The Sian's hybrid system has an additional trick in its sleeves it's a supercapacitor. It is able to recharge faster than lithium ion batteries and the car is able to run for up to 63 second on electric power.

Operators simply cut the carbon fiber to the desired shape, place it in a hot press mould and squeeze it using heat. It only takes minutes, but it could take up to a day to make the same part using traditional methods.

It's unclear if we'll ever see structurally-forged composite parts in production vehicles, but Lamborghini claims its manufacturing-friendly nature means that the material could eventually be integrated into more affordable products. The cost of materials and labor is too high, but if you can scale up the manufacturing process and save money, you can make a difference. Forged composites are also more flexible than carbon fiber woven, so engineers can create complex shapes without adding weight or cost.

Carbon Skin

The Sian's hybrid system is powered by supercapacitors that combine the power and efficiency of an electric motor along with a lithium battery of 48 volts. The Lamborghini Sian is based on the Aventador near SVJ, which means it comes with the same V12 engine as that model. It shares a similar suspension and chassis and the same four-wheel-drive. The hybrid powertrain that Sian uses is what makes it stand out.

The name Sian is a Bolognese word meaning lightning. It's a homage to the brand's past and future. The alphanumeric suffix FKP37 is a tribute to Ferdinand Karl Piech. He was the one who brought Lamborghini to the Volkswagen Group and died just before the debut of Sian. Only 63 cars were built and they're all sold out.

Specifications
