Foreshadowing is used to extend suspense, intrigue and shock in a narrative by offering an indication of what’s to come back. It’s usually performed through dialogue, sound results, visuals, or characters’ body language. Often, even the smallest factor could be an effective foreshadowing.

I really like to return and watch a movie for a second time—knowing the ending positively makes it more satisfying. That’s why I’ve put collectively a list of 10 movies that show the perfect examples of foreshadowing. Here’s a look at a few of my favorites.

1. The Sixth Sense (1999): A younger boy, Cole Sear (Haley Joel Osment), is certain he can discuss to the dead. 6. The Lion King (1994): Before Mufasa (James Earl Jones) is killed by his jealous brother Scar (Jeremy Irons), Scar tells Mufasa that the whole lot the light touches is his kingdom. This is a subtle foreshadowing of the scene by which Scar throws Mufasa to his death, after Mufasa rises from the darkness while seeing his son for the primary time.

7. Shutter Island (2010): In this psychological thriller, the hero Teddy Daniels (Leo DiCaprio) is heading to an island looking for a lacking girl.
