Bentley Mulsanne Key Celebrates Its Centenary

Mulliner Bentley's bespoke coachbuilding unit has designed a unique keycase to mark the 100th anniversary of the company. It's made of Dark stained Walnut with Piano Black Veneer and includes a fluttering "B" paperweight keys, Bentley Mulsanne Key as well as an album of never-before-seen 1930s 8 Litre images.

It also has Secure-A-Key which prevents theft of keys without keypads. The device is placed inside the remote-control key fob. It stops it after a couple of minutes of inactivity. This stops thieves from transmitting the key's frequency to other devices that could unlock and start the vehicle.

Bentley says it takes roughly 500 man-hours in order to create and assemble the average Mulsanne. The key to this time-consuming effort is a conscious refusal to take advantage of modern technology. Instead of using a machine to space the perfectly matched leather seats, workers at the Crewe factory do it by hand. Drivers are required to park their vehicles manually, not using sensors built into the vehicle to guide them into parallel and perpendicular spots.
