Easy to install

Fiat 500 key covers are an easy way to freshen up your car keys. They come in a variety of styles and colors, making it possible to find the perfect one to match your personality. The first step is to remove the old cover from your key. The original cover needs to be removed before the new one is able to be installed.

After you have removed the old cover Once you have removed the old cover, use a flathead screwdriver to pull out the four main attachment clips located on the passenger side of the fob assembly. These are marked with red on the photo below. Also note the tabs that locate slots in yellow that need to be disengaged also.

Replace the battery with a CR2032 coin cell battery. The "+" side of the battery should face the opening on the fob and the "-" side should face the buttons made of rubber.

Attach the mirror cover to the passenger side by aligning the locating tabs. Once you've completed this take the fob for the driver's side back into the vehicle and test it. Press the push button on the front of the key. If everything is working as it should, the parking lights should be on and the doors will automatically close.

Easy to remove

When you remove the metal key, you will be able to see a small round silver metal switch with images of a locked and unlocked padlock next to it. This is the key fob battery switch. The battery is simple to replace by turning the switch a quarter turn with a flathead screwdriver.

The key fob comes with an internal microchip that is used to communicate with the Body Control Module (BCM). When you insert your fiat 500 spare key cut key it presses a button on the ignition switch that is used to remind you of the "key-inignition". The BCM will then be able to read the transponder in the key fob and confirm that it's genuine.
