The upper right shelf can be folded down to give tall items more room. There's also a full-width drawer for deli items and an internal water dispenser.

This refrigerator is equipped with an ice maker, making it easy to move the frozen ice whenever you need it. The freezer also comes with clever design features, like sliding drawers that allow you to organize your belongings. It has a large bin for storing frozen food, and a separate container for ice.

The Smart InstaView feature is neat however it doesn't enhance the efficiency of the fridge. In fact it took longer to defrost and chill food in this fridge than other refrigerators we test. This could be due to the bigger capacity.

The other issue we have with this refrigerator is its doors. The handles with a sunken design allow smaller people to open them from the bottom. However, taller people still have a difficult time closing them without slamming. It would have been better if they had a front-mounted handles.

The LG Counter-Depth MAX is a good option for those looking to combine the advantages of a French-door refrigerator's aesthetics with an efficient layout. Its capacity is higher than average for a counter-depth model, and it cools evenly and has a good layout. Another nice feature is the "Chill Drawer" that sits over the two crisper bins. This drawer lets you direct a portion of the fridge's cooling power into the area so it can be used to store food items that require special attention. You can alter this feature using a slider that's located right in the middle of the drawer. You can also alter the general cooling settings for the entire fridge. I have found that the generic settings work better than the specific ones.

In my tests, the temperature of the refrigerator were fairly constant across the different areas of the fridge. The temperatures in the middle, top and bottom of the refrigerator did not differ significantly from 38 degrees. This is a solid performance but does not quite make it to the top of our ratings.
