After a series of social media posts that hint at it, Italian supercar-maker Lamborghini has finally announced its first NFT (non-fungible token) project. Space Key was developed in collaboration with a non-publicized artist and based upon advanced carbon fiber composite materials that were shipped to the International Space Station as research material, is a project which was announced by Lamborghini.

The new project, which is dubbed the Space Key, is a work that was created in collaboration with an unidentified artist. The NFT is a unique piece of digital art that is accessed through the use of a QR code. The project is a limited edition and will be auctioned off in the coming weeks.

The Space Key is made from carbon fiber composite materials that Lamborghini sent to the International Space Station in 2019 as part of an investigation project. Each of the five Space Keys features a different moment that occurs at different times as the Lamborghini Ultimae takes off towards the stars. Over 600 million pixels each of the five images that were taken by photographer Fabian Oefner.

Oefner employed an inflatable camera fitted with a lens to capture the individual images, which were then added to the final picture. The result is an amazing out of the world photo that captures the beauty of Earth and the futuristic, hyper-realistic look of the car rising away from it.
