World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades increase the value of certain numeric stats on armor, weapons and rings. They also increase bonuses such as PvE damage and crit chance.

For instance, a weapon with the upgrade template that is ending in % will suffer an attack damage of 3% each time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).

The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases as the item level increases.

Components

Upgrade components can be added to trinkets, armor, and weapons to give them a boost in stats or an extra effect. They can be obtained through making crafts, buying from vendors, trading with other players or looting. Certain upgrades come with special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components are only available to devices that have slots. The item must be upgraded to blue before a component can be applied. Upgrade components, unlike other mods can only be applied only once. They cannot be replaced or applied several times. Infusions and enrichments are a type of upgrade component that can be used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or ascended equipment, as well as some non-ascended items. Infusions and Enrichments can be obtained by salvaging equipment from the ascended state or completing a mission in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade may be prefixed or a suffix, modifying the name of the item to which it is applied (for instancethe 'Canthan Armor Insignia' becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades boost an item's Mark Level, or Rarity, allowing players create stronger versions of the equipment that require the smallest amount of Upgrade Crystals than would be required to achieve the same level of upgrade through normal methods.

A boost upgrade can alter the attack or defence characteristics of a weapon, or armor. After the player has completed the cutscene and defeated Crazed Mechanist the upgrades can be crafted at the Portative Forging Station. These upgrades can be obtained by purchasing them from the cash shop or by obtaining them from enemies when upgrading other equipment.

The player can get the maximum of five boost upgrades at a time; each upgrade increases the probability that a higher-tier version of the item will drop at the time of the next reset. This gives the player an incentive to continue upgrading their gear even if they're uncertain of the extent to which it will improve after a future reset.

The boost upgrade may be successful or not, the process may be costly, and there is a high risk that the item level upgrade may become obsolete or even break when it fails; a unsuccessful upgrade could ruin the Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder as well as the upgraded item. This is alleviated by the availability cash shop items to increase or even eliminate the chances of failure, and a few upgrades that give an additional benefit when they are inserted into an item.

Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade elements which can be put in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs can boost the performance of nodes within a radius, including any pre-existing attaches. Glyphs are upgraded in a variety of ways, and we recommend getting them to level 15 whenever you can.

In the final game you'll often discover that the best way to enhance your equipment is to use Glyphs. They are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded straight to level 15 and provide an enormous boost to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to climb higher nodes more quickly.

The majority of upgrades in the game can be replaced, however Glyphs are the one upgrade component that can be removed and put back in place without restrictions. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and rebuilt by using a Black Lion Salvage Kit.

Each Glyph has a particular range of values it can improve a statistic by, and the value is shown when you select the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with an Glyph that is the same or higher rank to boost the value of the Glyph.

There are Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of the Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain tools for gathering unlimited use, and through Faction Crypt raids. Each Faction Crypt will drop one of these Glyphs. There are some rare glyphs you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.

Once you have the desired Glyphs You will need to place them on your gear. Each Glyph unlocks a unique bonus that boosts a specific set of stat nodes in a radius surrounding the Glyph. Depending on the Glyph the bonus will be +40 to one of your primary stats or +25 to two of your secondary stats.

Glyphs will boost all nodes that are connected to them, so it is Best item upgrader to put Glyphs in key spots on the Graph. This will maximize the impact. Druids for instance should put their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They might also want to consider placing them near their primary damage nodes.

Leveling

The item upgrade system allows players to boost the stats of specific items by adding upgraded components. This is known as "upping". Each upgradeable item has an amount that determines the final statistics. Upgraded items may be leveled up to a maximum of 385. Each item level requires various components, and the cost of upgrading increase with each level.

Some upgrades require a special ingredient to activate. This ingredient can be obtained by making Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be found in the upgrade tab of a crafting table, or obtained from NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed yields a certain number of Technology points. These points can be used for upgrading an item. Once enough points are earned, you will be able to claim the upgrade and get its extra bonuses.

When an item is upgraded by a player it is replaced with a different item of the same kind. This means that the same armor piece will become the form of a shield or weapon when upgraded. The new item will have a unique bonus. This can be a downside, as the item can be more expensive even if you do not need it.

If the player has enough tokens, they can roll item upgrades. The item will be replaced with the same item level upgrade, but it has a base of level 1 and completely different bonuses. This is useful for certain items, however it's not something that should be performed frequently, since it can use up a lot of resources.

Some upgrades can increase their value and allow players to personalize their equipment. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, since it grants a buff if the player repeatedly enters or exits the water. This can be upgraded several times, each time raising the max roll by an increment of 10. This item is highly valuable in PvP. A perfectly rolled version could be worth up to 50x the value of its non-upgraded counterpart.

Requirements

The ability to upgrade items allows players to boost the level of their equippable gear--armor, weapons and trinkets over ilvl 385 by offering the appropriate items and currencies to an item upgrader NPC. Upgrading armor set pieces will also increase the base defense of the piece, whereas upgrading weapons will increase the damage base as well as the required strength and dexterity to meet the upgraded equipment's requirements.

Each item can be upgraded up to five times except for hero gear, which can be upgraded eight times. Every when you upgrade an item, it is given an opportunity to fail. The failure rate increases the farther you go over the maximum number of upgrades. Failures can cause the item to go to its initial condition, which requires the user to pay more for materials than they would had they stopped upgrading at the maximum number of upgrades.

If an item is not able to upgrade, the amount of accumulated experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. Additionally the item will lose any gained bonuses, including crit chance and attack damage, as well as any other effects that are associated with that effect (for example, increased heal over time or reload speed). The player can continue to use their weapon or armor after the failure.

Whenever an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied in order from the lowest to the highest. The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is based on the rarity rating as well as the number of upgrade slots.
