Special features such as through-the-door dispensers, ice machines with higher-end features and flex drawers that can be customized make them stand out from the crowd.

We contacted Ladina Schopf - interior designer, architect, and the founder of LS Projects - for her advice on how to choose the right one. They weighed storage capacity, layout, energy efficiency, and other features.

GE Profile Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

The name of the series suggests that GE’s Profile series is targeted at people who want to incorporate cutting-edge technology into their kitchens. This fridge has them all from the Keurig K cup coffee maker in the door, to a clever dispenser of water. But these flourishes don't mask mediocre performance, especially in the refrigerator's freezer and an ineffective temperature-controlled drawer. Given that this fridge costs more, I'd expect higher quality.

This fridge is a great choice, despite the small blip. It comes with a huge freezer compartment, which is uncommon in counter-depth French door refrigerators. Additionally, it holds a fair amount of frozen food when as compared to similar models.

Inside the fridge, there are 17 shelves and compartments. The refrigerator compartment is 18.5 cubic feet, which is the standard for a French-door fridge at this price. It has a decent sized icemaker in the left door. However it's not the biggest one I've seen.

You can adjust the shelves in both compartments to create a custom storage setup for what is a french style fridge freezer you want to store. The interior design of the GE PYE22PYNFS is attractive. Its LED lighting is a nice addition and the storage bins feature the third shelf, which can fold down to make it possible to store large items. The drawers have temperature controls so that you can set them for Meat, Beverage or Deli settings. They're easy to open and close, but I found their plastic textured coatings a bit rough on the fingers.

The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator includes the all the features you'd expect from a fridge in this price range, including Wi-Fi and app support through GE's SmartHQ software. The app is available for iOS and Android devices and lets you control your refrigerator from any place in the globe. It also comes with numerous options for customizing. It also gives you notifications when a door is left open, when the fridge or freezer needs to be defrosted and when it's time to change the filter.

It would be nice if the GE PYE22PYNFS had Precise Fill, an option available in a handful of other GE fridges that allows you to choose how many cups of water you'd like to pour out at once. The fridge shows a countdown to show you how much water remains, but it's not as effective as Precise Fill.

Bosch Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

The Bosch french door fridge price-door Refrigerator is an impressive product. It's designed to appear like a seamless piece of your kitchen. The fridge uses fingerprint-resistant stainless steel, which is a great feature for busy households. It also has a veggie compartment that keeps fruits and vegetables fresher for longer periods, and two compressors to preserve food items. The ice maker is one of the top we've tested and produces pyramid-shaped ice with a low water consumption. This refrigerator is the ideal option for a single family or kitchenettes that want an integrated look and top of the line food preservation.

This fridge was rated as the best in our Refrigerators Test for a variety of reasons. The temperature of the freezer remained constant at just above 0°F and never fluctuated more than a fraction - this is crucial to prevent freezing burn. The fridge's refrigerator section also performed well, achieving the temperature that was set for the initial setting within a matter of hours and keeping that temperature steady over the course of our tests.

Bosch has a reputation for top-of-the-line appliances and appliances, so it's not a surprise that this counter-depth refrigerator is also a smart appliance that has the option of connecting to your home Wi-Fi network and Bosch's Home Connect platform. This app allows you to control and monitor your refrigerator remotely from your tablet or smartphone. The fridge french door ice maker is expensive, but it offers great features and capabilities for the cost.

While the fridge is a fantastic piece of equipment but it's important to be aware of the limitations. You may need to get creative with tall items because the fridge is limited in shelf space. Additionally, the shelves are not sprillproof and can be easily damaged or stained by sharp objects. The trays are easily removed from the refrigerator. However, they should be cleaned frequently to stop the growth of mold.

LG Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

The LG LRFLC2706S counter-depth refrigerator is a great choice for those who require a lot of space in the space of a compact frame. It has a sleek, fingerprint-resistant stainless-steel finish and features thick handles that make them comfortable to grip. Inside, the fridge has an ordinary French-door design with gallon-sized bins for the doors on each door and two rows of spill-capture shelves and a set of sleeker drawers. The top right shelf can be folded down to give tall items more headroom. There's also a full-width storage drawer for deli items and an internal water dispenser.

One of the nice aspects of this refrigerator is that the ice maker is in the freezer, which makes it easy to move frozen ice to the fridge to use as required. The freezer is designed with thoughtful elements, as well, such as sliding drawers that can help you better organize the position of items. It also comes with a large bin that can accommodate plenty of frozen food items as well as an additional container for storing ice.

Smart InstaView panel is a cool feature of the refrigerator. It lets you control the fridge's temperature, lighting, and more via your smartphone. It's a great way to monitor and manage your refrigerator, particularly if you're away from home.

However, while the Smart InstaView is a neat feature, it does not necessarily enhance the overall performance of the refrigerator. The fridge took a bit longer to defrost food and chill it than some others we test. This could be due to its greater capacity.

The other issue we have with this refrigerator is its doors. They have handles that are sunken on the front that allow shorter people to easily pull them open from the bottom, however they're difficult for taller people to pull shut without slamming them. It would have been better if they had front-mounted handle.

The LG Counter-Depth MAX fridge is an excellent choice for those who want to combine the look and feel of a French-door refrigerator with an efficient design. Its capacity is superior to counter-depth models and also cools evenly. It's also a bit less than the best french door fridge with ice and water dispenser counter-depth refrigerator with an ice maker, which helps make it a desirable choice.

Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

This Frigidaire French door refrigerator is a good choice if you want a french door fridge size-door fridge that won't break the budget. It's a simple fridge which may not be as attractive like some of its competitors however, it does have enough features to make it a good choice. Its most notable feature is the adjustable temperature drawer, which helps keep foods like veggies and meat fresher for longer. It also has a large ice maker as well as a water dispenser.

Another feature that is worth mentioning is the "Chill Drawer" that sits over the two crisper bins. This drawer allows you to use some of your fridge's cooling power into the area so that you can keep food items that require extra attention. You can adjust the feature using the slider located on the on the outside of the drawer. You can also alter the general cooling settings for the entire fridge. I've found that the generic settings are more effective than the specific ones.

In my experiments, I noticed that the temperatures in the refrigerator were fairly consistent in different parts of the fridge. Temperatures at the top and bottom of the fridge did not vary much from 38 degrees, and even the middle of the fridge was within a degree of 36. This is a solid performance but doesn't quite make it to the top of our ratings.

This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. You can also connect this fridge to an intelligent thermometer to get more precise readings of the internal temperature of your fridge.

The exterior of the Frigidaire is made from gray-bodied stainless with a "smudge resistant" finish. It wards off streaks and fingerprints better than other stainless steel finishes I've tested.
