Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our tests on floors that are bare They're also particularly adept in removing pet hair. However, they have some flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. For one, the Q5's navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology which means it's susceptible to become entangled in shoes and socks and can't navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't come with an image sensor that lets it see the corners of the room.

It's still a good deal particularly if your home or office has lots of unfinished floors and you want to save money. It's also very quiet and can work while you're at work, or school. The only thing it lacks that you can't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does have a self-emptying dock, though. And, if you have to change the mopping pad for a dry one in seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its intelligent cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean and effective in tackling larger particles, like pet hair. It also features a self-emptying bin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robotic hoover for carpets, but it isn't as effective as some of its competitors in terms of deep cleaning.

This high-performing combination vacuum and mop uses advanced sensor technology to avoid obstacles and pet waste, and it will learn your home's layout over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. You can alter the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones with the well-designed app. It comes with a battery life that is similar to other models.

If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to take off and extend its mop. This can help avoid cross-contamination. Its flex arm is also perfect for getting under low-lying furniture and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum that vacuums and mops vacuum/mop in the market to clean an entire home, and it did so with 66 percent of its battery left. It also did a great job cleaning a range of floors and rooms that had different flooring types, including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog socks, turds, shoes and cables.

It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums it, something hasn't been seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

With an elegant circular design that appears like a regular Roomba rather than the boxy units this mop and robot vacuum is among the most attractive designs in our evaluations. The newest model from iRobot is its most advanced and has advanced features like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that has 100% in our tests thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors that include a camera, structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It comes with an easy mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's still quite a noisy unit, which can be an issue if you use it in the morning prior to work or in the evening as you try to fall asleep.

It's also quite expensive however, not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing with a little more noise and some additional cost this is a capable two-in-one that should satisfy most people.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a variety of sophisticated features that let you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device that is similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and refills the water tank, and washes and dries mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and spot obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its top competitors. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time detection of hazards but this was not foolproof in our testing and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to get the job done. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum works and also alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home in accordance with how dirty they tend to be.

For larger homes, it's worth opting for models with spot or zone cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean one particular area of your house via the app or via voice commands. If you have furniture, a stair-mode is also a good option. For busy families, a recharge function and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to resume where it left off could be very beneficial.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than its price suggests. It does a stellar job cleaning, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using one pad and a reciprocating motion which is cleaner than the majority of the mop cleaners with robots that we've tested. It's self-sufficient too, with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or organize the spot-cleaning. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas to improve performance. The app also provides access to many features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it is able to reach corners and under furniture more easily. It also has a strong 8000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for pet hair. And you can create a spot-clean that intensely cleans a localized area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, but it is more likely to be stuck on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuum that mops vacuums that we've test. It also has an app that's not as intuitive and a small base station that does not double as a bin for emptying.
