The
best automatic vacuum
Robot Hoover
The
best robot hoover
can mop and vacuum without needing your attention. It will leave your floors clean. Its price is surprisingly low and high-end features (such as dirt detection) are a plus.
Make sure to check your robot's brushes regularly for tangled debris and hair. Wash them when necessary. Some models will automatically empty their dust bin on board into a larger one at the base, which decreases the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They feature top-of-the-line motors that can generate up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other iRobots with premium features (including the top model) they utilize smart mapping to produce precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles like furniture legs. They also come with carpet boost, a feature that increases the robot's power when it sees a lot of dirt on the carpet to get it cleaned quickly.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on bare floors and are especially adept in removing hair from dogs. There are some issues however, which prevent them from being our top choice. One of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to get stuck on shoes and socks and couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very well in our tests. Also, it doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of the room.
It's still a good deal, especially if your home or office has a lot of unfinished floors and you want to save money. It's also quiet and operates when you're at work or at school. The only thing it lacks that you can't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does have self-emptying docks, however. If you need to, the mopping pad can be swapped for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of minutes.
2. iRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to mop floors. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and effective at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also features an impressive suction system and self-emptying bin. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets but it falls behind some competitors in terms of deep cleaning.
This highly efficient combination vacuum and mop makes use of advanced sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste and it will learn your home's layout over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. The app lets you customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average compared to other models.
If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to remove and extend its mops. This can help avoid cross contamination. Its flex arm is perfect for getting under low-lying furniture and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean an entire home, and it did so with only 66 percent of its battery left. It also did a
good robot vacuum
job cleaning a variety of floors and rooms that had various flooring types, such as some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was excellent and it was able to avoid fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles cables.
It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming, a feature that we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combos.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
With an elegant circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba rather than the boxy units, this mop and
robot hoover and mop
vacuum is among the most appealing looking in our reviews. The latest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest, with advanced features including enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).
It's also the only robot vacuum/mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our testing. This is thanks to a combination modern sensors, including a restructured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can fully self-refill and empty its base station and boasts an its own self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to use. It has an intuitive mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This can be a problem in the mornings before work or in the evening when you are trying to sleep.
It's also a bit expensive however, not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally impressive and attractive. If you're willing to put up with a bit more noise and some extra cost this is a powerful two-in-one that will delight most.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a lot of advanced features that let you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine, similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically empty the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, and cleans and dry the mop pads.
The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to create floorplans and identify obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its top competitors. It also has a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time, although this wasn't quite 100% foolproof during our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.
Its vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to complete the task. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vacuum works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home depending on how dirty they tend to be.
If you own a larger home, you should consider choosing a model that has spot or zone cleaning mode. This allows you to instruct the robot on which part of your home must be cleaned using the app or voice control. A stairway mode is useful if you have a number of furniture. For families that are busy, a recharge function and resume feature that allows your
best robot vacuum
vacuum to pick up where it left off could be extremely useful.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more intelligent than its price would suggest. It vacuums well and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad, which uses a reciprocating motion, which cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've examined. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured application, and a self emptying, washable base.
The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate the mapping process that collects data on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, arrange an area for cleaning or to prioritize your most filthy rooms for better performance. The app also grants access to a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.
It is also able to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong 8000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for hair of pets. You can also set up a spot-clean which will thoroughly clean the area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, but it's more likely to be caught in low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums we have examined. It also has an app that is less intuitive and a small base station that doesn't double as a bin to empty.
