Noah Pinsonnault works as a product analyst at
good robot vacuum
Housekeeping's Home Care and Cleaning Lab.
He evaluates and tests cleaning appliances. His focus is on robot vacuums, and mopping combinations. Multitaskers can be ideal for those who want to remove mopping from their list of tasks. Some models have superior mapping and obstacles avoidance. Some wash and refill mopping pads for a hands-free cleaning.
The Eufy S1 Pro
If you're looking to buy a robot vacuum that also mops then this is the model you should go for. It's smaller than the other options on this list making it easier to navigate through tight corners and under furniture. It comes with a 220 degree Lidar that, when combined with the 3D Matrix Camera System, gives it some of the best navigation and object avoidance capabilities I've seen in the form of a robotic vacuum. It's got a battery of 4600mAh that can last up to 170 minutes when cleaning and sucking are set to standard mode. (It can run longer when it is set to turbo). It will even return to its dock to recharge its battery mid-clean.
It's very fast and does a fantastic job of cleaning my two bedroom apartment. It cleans the carpeted areas extremely quickly, and hardwood floors in the living room, and hallways in a single sweep. Its 8,000pa motor is able to pick up dirt hair, pet hair, and even droppings effortlessly. Carpet detection increases power automatically when it encounters rugs and the two side brushes help to tease out debris from corners.
The mopping efficiency is less impressive, though not by a lot. The mop's rotating motor spins at a high rate and is pushed down with 2.2lbs of force, effortlessly scraping away dirt and stains. I've also noticed that the front arms protrude out a bit more than other robots, which can be helpful to get into tight corners and on baseboards. The same front arms can also be used to pick up larger pieces of debris, like broken toys and books.
The S1 Pro is also one of the quietest robot mops and vacuums I've tested. It is quieter and doesn't produce as much noise when mopping or vacuuming. The S1 Pro is only limited by the fact that it has to utilize a specific mopping solution and is sold separately. It is simple to install and performs well. However should you purchase this robot vacuum to mop, you will need to pay attention to this.
The Roborock Q Revo
The Q Revo stands apart from the majority of robot vacuums which mops in its class. It is a powerful machine for cleaning with a variety of features.
The device is equipped with an efficient cleaning system that combines LiDAR sensor technology with an RGB camera. This allows it to map out the home and also detect furniture and other obstacles. This information can be used to clean intelligently and efficiently. This leads to a thorough, consistent clean that's also fairly fast.
The Q Revo DuoRoller mop pad is capable of reaching many surfaces. This includes corners, baseboards and other hard to reach places. They also have a flexible side brush that extends to the floor in close proximity to walls and other fixtures. Additionally, the mop pads can be cleaned and dried to prevent build-up and reduce odors.
App-based customization is another notable feature. The Q Revo allows you to adjust the amount of suction and choose between a back-andforth or more random patterns. You can also adjust the number of passes it should make, which will determine how quickly the device can move through your home. You can even choose to disable the side brush to avoid damaging carpets and rugs.
The device has a high price tag but has a variety of advanced features. It is important to note that the device incurs periodic costs in the form of mopping supplies and regular maintenance. For example the brushroll should be replaced every six to 12 months or after 300 hours. The filter must be cleaned after 150 hours and the mop pad needs to be replaced every three to six months.
The
robot vacuum cleaner
vacuum mop has an excellent Amazon rating and includes an array of physical automation features. It has the power button that can also function as a general 'Clean button as well as a Home button that will take it back to its base station after completing its cleaning session. It also comes with a multi-functional dock that automatically emptys the dustbin, refills its water tank and washes and dry its mop pads.
The Shark Matrix Plus
If you're a busy professional or just want an organized home that doesn't require hours doing chores, the Shark Matrix Plus is a good option. Its powerful performance, smart navigation and long battery life make it easy to maintain a clean home with minimal effort.
The Matrix Plus robot vacuum is a 2-in-1 vacuum and mop. It can do both mopping and vacuuming. It has two modules: a dry bin and reservoir of water, and a separate mopping unit with microfiber pads that snap into and out of the way. It's a bit old-fashioned to have separate modules for vacuuming and mopping, but it does mean that you don't need to worry about changing the bags for disposables or refilling the tank of water.
The Matrix Plus performed well at both vacuuming and mopping. Its most impressive feature was its precise floorplan that it uses to determine a route when cleaning. The Matrix Plus was able to navigate effortlessly around furniture, rugs and other obstacles. The app also offers the option of setting "No-Go zones" and virtual barriers, which help to protect certain areas of your home from being swept with a mop.
The Matrix Plus also did a amazing job of picking up pet hair. It was able to capture the majority of hair that shed by our cats and even was able to get into the nooks and crevices of our stairs while other robots struggled. It was fairly quiet and even had some pleasant jingles that indicated when it was starting or finishing its work.
The app was too simple and you had to switch the modules every time you switched between vacuuming and mops. The app can't contain multiple maps, which can be a pain when you live in a house with multiple floors. The Matrix Plus robot is a excellent choice for those who want a smart device that can vacuum and mop.
The Yiko X1 Omni
The X1 Omni robot vacuum is the most expensive of our review. However, it does have distinct features that make it worth considering. The X1 Omni is notable for its enormous dock that doubles as an charging base for the robot, a cleaning sink and two 4-liter water tanks. It also houses a 2.5-liter dust bin and the 2.5 milliliter dust bin.
The base comes with a couple of buttons for control that let you manually begin a cleaning task, recall the
robot vacuums with mop
or run the dock’s auto-emptying procedure. Press two buttons to switch off the child lock. This is a great feature for parents who are worried about their children playing with the vacuum.
Like other robotic vacuums the Omni Omni uses its camera to detect furniture and obstacles in its path and avoid them. True Mapping 2.0 navigation maps your home up to four times faster than laser detection systems.
Unfortunately, this means that the X1 Omni can occasionally get caught up in obstacles, like the power cord that is draped across a rug--that it becomes stuck and ceases to function until you free it. Although this is not a common occurrence, it was a frustrating experience when it did happen, especially since the X1 Omni doesn't have an "stuck" status alert on its application.
The X1 Omni cannot automatically switch from mopping mode to vacuuming mode during cleaning. You'll need to manually swap between the two modes, which isn't an issue aside from the fact that mopping pads haven't been cleaned and dried between use which could lead to mildew or mold.
The X1 Omni looks great, thanks to the Jacob Jensen design team (of Bang & Olufsen fame), who created its sleek modern, contemporary base and mopping pad. It's a huge difference from the utilitarian black bases of competitors like Roborock or iRobot. It's also a welcome sight for an industry dominated by boxes.
