The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive counterpart the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have test. They have motors that are top of the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other premium iRobots (including the most powerful model) they employ smart mapping to produce precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also feature carpet boost that increases the robot's power when it detects a lot of dirt on the carpet, allowing it cleaned up quickly.

Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors They're also particularly adept in removing pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws, however, that prevent them from being our first option. For instance, the Q5's navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to get caught up in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It also doesn't come with cameras that let it see the corners of the room.

It's still a great option for those who want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly unfinished home or office. Plus, it's very quiet and can be used while you're at work, or going to school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping, using disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on for long and don't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with an auto-emptying dock, however. And, if you have to change the mopping pad to dry ones in just a few just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and effective at taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also features a powerful suction and an automatic vacuum cleaner and mop bin for emptying. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, though it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensor technology that can keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time to provide cleaner and more efficient cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and customize zones through the well-designed app. It has a battery lifespan that is comparable to other models.

If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to pull back and extend its mops. This will help prevent cross contamination. Its flex arm can also be utilized to reach under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete the entire house with the battery at 66 percent left. It did a decent cleaning job on a variety of floors and rooms with different kinds of flooring, including certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was great and it stayed clear of fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles cables.

It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combination.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

With an elegant circular design that looks like a regular Roomba rather than the boxes This mop and robot cleaner with mop vacuum is among the most appealing looking in our tests. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also its smartest. It features advanced features like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored 100% in our tests thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It comes with a simple mobile application interface, and it integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it's loud, which can be a problem if you run it in the morning prior to work or in the evening as you try to fall asleep.

It's also quite expensive, but it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally capable and better-looking. If you're willing to live with a little more noise and some additional cost, this is a very powerful two-in-one that will delight most.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot vacuum and mop. It comes with a variety of features that are advanced and will help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner, similar to Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, as well as washes and dries the mop pads.

The smart robot uses the combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out the floor plan and detect obstacles, making it more efficient than some of its premium rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazards detection but this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and could be confused with power cords or obstructions.

The vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to finish the job. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vacuum works and alters the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house depending on the degree of dirt they tend to be.

If you own a larger home, it is worth selecting a robot that comes with the option of cleaning zones or spots. This lets you inform the robot of which area of your home needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice control. If you have lots of furniture, a stair mode is also a good option. For families with busy schedules, a recharge function and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off can be very beneficial.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you'd think from its price. It is a great job vacuuming, picking up 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using one pad and a rotating motion that is more efficient than most mop cleaners for robots that we've tried. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self-emptying base that can be washed.

The iRobot app is designed to guide you through an exercise in mapping which collects information about your floorplan and any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, plan the perfect spot for cleaning or prioritize your most filthy rooms to improve performance. The app has a range of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, meaning it is able to reach corners and underneath furniture more easily. It has an impressive 8,000 Pascal suction and clever combs for removing pet hair. You can also create a spot-cleaner that will thoroughly clean a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like cute little eyes. It's good at vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to getting caught on low thresholds and is a bit louder than the other top robot vacuums we've tried. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that can't be used as a bin for emptying.
