1. Engine Speed Sensor

The grey wire is located on the outside of the transmission, just above the flywheel ring. The sensor transmits an electrical signal through the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU utilizes this information to regulate the amount of fuel and boost. It also sends an indication to the G5 Tachometer within the instrument cluster.

The sensor is used to link with the G40 Camshaft position Sensor. The ecu must know when the crankshaft is TDC and where the camshaft is so it can activate spark and injectors according to the situation.

If this sensor fails, the ECU will display a P00160 code which means the Crank Shaft and Intake Camshaft aren't in sync and could indicate chain stretch or a jumped link on the upper chain of timing. The code won't show without the additional information provided by other sensors (G4 or G40).

It is a little tricky to test because there are various pins on the connector, and each has its own functions. The best method for doing this is by measuring the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. If the sensor is operational, it should read about 1000 ohms. If you're having issues with this part, check for signs of oil or coolant in the connector bay.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, while accelerating at full speed from the highway paytoll, I experienced a big cut in power like the engine is out of gas or the injectors are not firing any more. I pulled out the spark plugs this morning, 3 were soaked in gasoline, and the 4th was dry. When i crank the engine, there are no sparks i put tissue on the top of each hole in the injector, the 3 drenched with gazoline leap out, however the 4th stay shut. I inspected the ground connection on ECU pins 14/55,30/55 and 48/55 i get zero ohm. I'm assuming the issue is elsewhere.

I also tried to reset the PID without success. The car will start when the G28 is unplugged, and it runs fine with the G28 plugged in. However the intermittent misfire issue continues to occur at higher RPM. The coolant sensor (G62), even when unplugged, still shows temperatures of -49c. Also i noticed that the gauge for oil pressure in the cockpit is showing 2 bar when the actual pressure is 0.0 if i crank up the engine.

I'm not certain what to do, but i think i've pretty much eliminated everything else. I'm worried that i might have missed something. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump in the g28 can be activated by a signal from the RPM sensor.
