Best Robot Vacuums and Mop Combos
A robot vacuum is the best device to keep the cleanliness of your home. It can remove dust, pet hair, and other particles from the floor before it becomes a bigger problem.
Some robots can sync with smart assistants such as Alexa or Google Assistant to provide a environment that is hands-free. Find models that are rechargeable and continue cleaning the area they left.
1. iRobot s8
This smart robot mop and vacuum is a great option for households with a variety of. It is able to vacuum and mop well, has excellent navigation with both GPS and laser sensors, and comes with a variety of controls and features available via the app. It also comes with a useful feature that lets you add Cleaning zones for certain areas that require extra attention and Keep Out zones that you don't want it to be. It also gets software updates, similar to all Roomba products, which enhance it over time.
It's expensive, but it's also among the most advanced robot vacuums that ZDNet has evaluated. It has a powerful battery that can clean the entire house in less than two hours. It can also switch between mopping and vacuuming with the touch of a button. And, unlike other self-emptying robots that require you to empty the bin after each run, this one automatically empties into the larger waste container that is above its charging dock.
It has a wide range of other features that make it a great choice for homes of all sizes that include intelligent obstacle avoidance that utilizes the camera as well as processor-powered smarts to see obstacles. It is rarely derailed or stuck during a cleaning cycle. In my tests it was the most effective at avoiding objects such as power cables. However, it's not as effective in detecting pet waste and other hazards.
2. Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid
Eufy is owned by Anker, has become a household name in the world of budget robot vacuums. But it didn't provide a model that could also mop. The X8 Hybrid is a new model that has a wide range of features that are advanced and is able to compete with more expensive models.
The main selling point of Eufy's this machine is its laser navigation. The X8 uses laser mapping technology that is more accurate than the previous Eufy devices. It takes less time to build an extensive map of your home. It can also store multiple maps. This is perfect for homes with multiple floors.
The X8 is still a good vacuum on floors with no dust, slinging debris under its side brushes and into its 400ml dust bin with ease. The Tyres of the X8, despite their circular shape, are very good at grabbing edges and corners. It's not the best cat litter scooper, however as our tests show it is able to remove around 90 percent of the fur off hard floors.
There's a basic mopping mode that uses the same water tank as the vacuuming one. This is great for spills that are not too serious, but you can't limit the amount of water it uses. That said, it does an admirable job of picking up pet hair, and has a higher speed of pickup than the Roborock S7.
3. Miele RX2
Known for quietly effective home appliances Miele's RX2 robot vacuum has excellent cleaning power, gorgeous design and great navigation. There are a few niggles in its operation that keep it from being ranked as the best smart robot vacuum.
Similar to the latest models of iRobot, the RX2 has a dual-sensor mapping system that uses an LIDAR sensor to map out a room and two 3D scanning cameras to identify and avoid obstacles (like furniture legs or pet waste) in real-time. Once the room is mapped the app allows you to assign virtual no-go areas and favorite sections that the robot will automatically clean. You can also initiate a manual clean or manually change the cleaning mode, watch a live feed from the onboard cameras and more from the main screen.
The RX2's sensors are effective by registering furniture and obstructions in real-time. And its sweeping and suction power are top-notch, picking up surface litter from medium-pile carpeting and embedded dust on floors with no floor. But it's not the most agile robot on the market. Like many other robots it's not a great climber and has trouble with things like metal threshold transition strips.
Some people buy robot vacuums due to the ease of setting up a schedule using an app, only to forget about them for weeks. It's crucial that a robot can accomplish the task, which is the reason our ZDNet staff tested and reviewed several of the most popular models to help you select the best one for your home.
4. Shark ION
This round, budget robovac looks just like your standard robot, however it's a step up in terms of performance and features. Its smart mapping system generates 3D and 2-D maps of your house and uses them to navigate and stay clear of obstructions. It's even able to spot common obstacles like furniture legs and power cords in real time. This combination of sensors along with a bump sensor, and an infrared sensor for dropping that keeps it off stairs, makes it one of the most agile vacuums we've tested.
In our tests, it easily climbed over thick shag rug and didn't end up stuck on them (like the RoboVac 11s or Roomba 690). Its navigation abilities were also impressive and its overall score on carpet and bare floors was better than the competition. It was able to pick up 98.5 percent of the surface pet hair and litter from our laboratory test samples.
The controls are more basic than those of the competition; there's an oblong cleaning button at the top. You can launch it via the app, or by voice command with Alexa or
Most Powerful Robot Vacuum
Google Assistant. You can also schedule daily or weekly cleanings, create no-go zones and check the history of cleaning. Ion is clad in a smart dark gray plastic that looks and feels beautiful in your home. The dust bin on the rear is easily accessible to empty, and the removal of the filters is also simple.
5. Eufy 11S
If you're looking for a basic low-cost
quietest robot vacuum
vacuum at a low price, the Eufy 11S is a great option. This model lacks some smart features such as Alexa integration and digital mapping found in more expensive models. However, if you don't need these features, you can save money.
This robot is very easy to setup and use. It doesn't require a smartphone app or Wi-Fi pairing, however it does come with the ability to control the remote with a remote that lets you choose between different modes and adjust the suction level. You can also manually set the robotvac to a cleaning schedule.
In our tests during our tests,
Most Powerful Robot Vacuum
the 11S was extremely effective in getting rid of pet hair and dirt from hard floors and in low-pile carpets. Its slim profile made it easier to reach under furniture and other items that larger robots could not reach. It was able to go easily over thresholds of doorways and switch between floors of different types to another.
Like other robots, the 11S will suck up some objects like cords, drawstrings for hoodies, and cat toys. The manufacturer suggests you keep these objects off the ground and using a cord organiser when you can. It also recommends cleaning the dustbin on a regular basis replacing the filters, and washing or changing the brushes as required.
6. IRobot Roomba 990
The Roomba is the flagship model of iRobot's robot vacuum. It's pricey, but it's also the
most powerful robot vacuum
you can purchase. Its self navigation and environmental mapping are something to behold. It also has more advanced automation features than its competitors, including the ability to create virtual boundary markers with its mobile app. Although its application is a bit slow and the 980 may spin out a bit while rolling over cables, it's still a very capable
robot mop vacuum
vacuum.
One thing we love about the 980 is the fact that it utilizes its iAdapt 2.0 navigation sensors and visual simultaneous localisation and mapping technology (or vSLAM) to memorise the floor plan of your home. It will use this data to create a consistent and efficient cleaning path through each cycle. The result is cleaner floors and a more efficient robot vacuum than most high-end robots.
The 980's other features include dual multi-surface rubber brushes which pick up dirt from hard floors and carpet and a spinning brush that sweeps debris into the robotic vacuum's bin. The sensors for floor tracking help it navigate between furniture and around edges, while Cliff Detect keeps the Roomba from slipping down stairs. It can also return automatically to the base station for simple recharging in between sessions. The bin capacity and battery life of the 980 aren't as great as some other robot vacuums. However, it is an extremely reliable and sturdy machine that can keep floors clean for many hours.
