Changing the Battery in Your
mazda 2 key fob replacement
3 Key Fob
There is nothing more frustrating than returning to your vehicle after a long work day and finding that the key fob battery is dead. Luckily, it's an easy fix by purchasing an easy battery replacement at the hardware store or big box retailer.
A spare key fob for your Mazda 3 is an inexpensive way to avoid having to take it by a dealership to let them re-program your keys.
Battery Replacement
Removing the battery from your

fob is a simple process that you can do at home. But, it is best to replace the battery if it fails, or when the key fob shows a message on the multi-information display, "Low key fob battery. Replace battery."
To open the key fob's case You'll need a tape wrapped flathead screwdriver, along with some patience. Put the flathead screwdriver's tip in a notch, or gap on the bottom of the metal of the Mazda 3 key fob to pry the lower half off. Repeat the procedure for the top metal piece however, be careful not to damage the rubber ring at the bottom of the case.
You'll find a slot on the opposite side of the case, which houses the battery. Start with one side of the case, and then gently lift it up. Remove the old battery and put in the new CR2025, making sure that it's facing up to ensure the correct orientation. Finally, place the cap back on and reattach both sides to the key fob case, pressing until you can hear them click.
Once you've replaced your battery, test the fob to ensure it is working by locking and unlocking your doors. If everything appears to be working you're good to go.

Pairing Issues
If your key fob has stopped suddenly, this could indicate that the transmitter in the car has been damaged. This usually requires the assistance of a professional for repair and will likely need a new key fob.
If you've tried replacing the battery and reprogram the key fob, but it hasn't worked then the chip in the key fob could be defective. This can happen when the key fob has been dropped on hard surfaces and exposed to salt water, or even touched by dirty hands.
To diagnose this issue You will need to find a small "key" that is embedded into the seam of the fob which allows you to open it and remove the circuit board. You will then be able to examine for any damage or corrosion on the electronic chip. It is best to use a clean towel to avoid damaging the microchip.
If you're not sure you are not sure, you can check the battery connector's terminals for cracks or breaks. If this is the case, carefully reconnecting them can usually restore the function of the key fob. You can also check the buttons for damage or wear. If the buttons are loose, they can be re-soldered regardless of whether the button has actually snapped off.
Interference Signals
There are few things more frustrating than glancing at a "No Fob Detected" message when you attempt to start your car. This typically happens at most awkward moments, such as when you are late for work or when you are picking up your children from school/daycare. There are some things you can do to troubleshoot and find out what's causing the problem.
Interference signals can cause the remote key fob not to function in a proper manner. This could be caused by objects such as buildings, weather conditions and transmitters that use the same frequency. Interference can occur when your vehicle is equipped with aftermarket equipment that transmits at the same frequency as your key fob.
In addition, if your key fob is exposed to salt or water waters, it could be damaged. The water can penetrate the rubber seals of the electronic chip especially when the key fob has been submerged in water for a lengthy duration. The chip may stop working and

require replacement of the keyfob. If you have a programmeable key cleaning the chip with isopropyl alcohol or an electronic cleaner to help it return to functionality. If this doesn't help then it's likely that the chip has fried and must be replaced.
Locking/Unlocking the Doors
The buttons on the key fob send electronic signals to the solenoid of the car, which then transforms the signal into mechanical action. This locks and unlocks doors. If the door lock isn't functioning, the issue could be due to a solenoid problem that requires some investigation with the assistance of an expert repair shop for autos.
A dead battery of 12 volts can hinder the fob from functioning correctly. This can happen when your battery loses its charge or if your contacts get corroded. The good news is that a new battery can fix this problem in just minutes.
The receiver module could be the cause if the key fob doesn't work after replacing the battery or reprogram the device. This device interprets radio frequency signals transmitted by the key fob to control the vehicle. If it breaks down it could be costly to fix.
To check whether this is the case, begin by inserting your spare keys into the key slot and setting the ignition to ON. Press the key fob two times in a period of 10 seconds, without taking it out. The Mazda 3 system will now connect the key to the car and allow you to use it as your primary remote for driving. This lets you program up three keys.
